Are there any post race interviews? I doubt that she will be able to get any significant appearance fees. Maybe one last time Boston or NYC?

I hope not! She ran her fastest marathon in years off of limited training. She definitely still has it.
well if she enjoys running she should continue like joan benoit samuelson, she may not be what she was, but she can still enjoy it.
I was at the finish. She was really crying when she walked by.
Agree, Like Joanie, Deena is an larger than life icon and fans will always come out to see her even if she is running 2:45 at age 50. She will always remain an inspiration to runners from her generation of both genders.
Maybe she will run the 10,000 trials.
DEENA KASTOR APPRECIATION THREAD! THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES, AND WE HOPE YOU CONTINUE TO PARTICIPATE ACTIVELY IN OUR SPORT!!!
I know this is not the right thread, but congratulations to Shalane!!! She is simply the best, proves it again and again!!!
Deena's familia of hundreds live in the Ventura County area where she grew up Deena she has plenty of relatives that travel along as support.
Deena is an inspiration as is Colleen De Reuck running 2:38 today at age 47!!!! Are you kidding me?! If that doesn't motivate you I don't know what will.
Not to mention Meb is nearly 37 and runs a PB, winning the trials against arguably the best American field ever assembled.

How about Linda Somers-Smith running 2:37 at 50? She actually beat De reuck who ran 2:38.
Deena has no chance in the 10k. In fact, she hasn't run under 2:30 in several years now. It happens to us all but the writing is on the wall....
Deena could make it in the 10K. Flanagan, Davila and Goucher will probably run the marathon, they can't run both. That leaves Deena, Hastings, McGregor, Huddle and Rhines.
I'm just happy to finally see some serious depth on women's side. It makes our sport a lot more exciting to watch.
yeah she can wrote:

Flanagan and Goucher will probably be in the 10k trials (afterall there is cash in this), so you think if they make the top 3, they will drop out and 4th or 5th will go to London?
Don't forget Janet C- Baucom, she just won two nationals.
She should run as long as she wants if she is enjoying it. She ran well today but he age is a factor. It happens to everyone. Father Time is undefeated.
Don't forget Lisa Uhl (formerly Lisa Koll) in the 10k.
As Kara Goucher has mentioned, Uhl has left her in the dust many times during training. I expect her to be the clear favorite coming into the trials.
Or Amy Yoder-Begley and possibly Lauren Fleshman if she moves up or doubles.

You're right. I hope she continues running. However, there don't seem many pro runners who continue runner after their professional career is over...
Deena can still get a big payday. She can take her time in training and run a good fall marathon. After that ... who knows?
