WOW, the kid is legit, ready to roll!!!!

WTF? i thought he was running 15?
Negative splits too.
Bungei ran fast, but Borzo wasn't far behind , and it's only his first race on the track this season.
Finally, the next Steve Scott.
Or, more accurately, the first Alan Webb....
1 308 ALLAN WEBB 83 USA 6 1:46.53

Won easily.
Shows he would be hard to beat in the Trials 1500 whether the pace is fast or slow.
(must mention that Holman ran 1:44/3:31 but couldn't win the Trials)
The kid can run 1:45 wrote:

did he really negative split? the website shows the 400m time as 51.9, surely he wasnt that nearly 2 seconds off the pace?
So who will win the trials?
Can Alan do it with his stamina/endurance, or will it be Krum with his speedier 800 (by one second, mind you)

Pay no attention to "The kid"......nothing he said at all was even close to accurate. Bungei and Borzo weren't even in the race, and Webb went through right behind the rabbit in about 52.0 or 52.1.
Like Krummenacker two years ago, Mr Webb has arrived as "always" being a contender in the Race. His 1:46 bodes well for future improvement in the 1500/mile. I like the Steve Scott comparisons. He has that longer Strength (3k/5k) that Steve had too! This could be a good stretch for American middle distance running on the World scene.
Great job Alan

Ah yes, but Webb shouldn't have to contend with the "McMullen factor". I don't know what it was, but that fella had Holeman's number.
Half-second is a very solid win; based on that alone I'd say he's got more in him at 800 a little later this summer, quite likely even 1:45-high in the right race. The Oly "A" for 800 is 1:46.00 so he could likely have that standard as well.
Not too shabby for a guy that won USATF Nats at 10K Cross, beat Riley (a guy that would run 13:21 a few months later) over 4.75 miles on the roads and made a World Cross team at 12K.
The whole package is starting to come together. He's right on schedule.
If the weather cooperates, 3:49 in Eugene seems very doable.
alan webb is running very well and im proving every week. Not only will win Olympic trials in 1500 but will be in the Olympic 1500 final
CONGRATULATIONS to Alan Webb for giving Americans a glimmer of hope in the 1500m! A great talent finally being fulfilled and now I won't put a limit on what he is capable of by the end of this track season (orginally I said 3:31.high).

Actually, the Kid was right. Borzo and Bungei were in the A race. Webb went out slow the first 200, actually came through in 53.3.
this really does my heart good to see the fellow run so well. i think perhaps all he needed was to get jumpstarted with some success again and to regain his confidence. looks like he has.
consider me very impressed. The great 1500m times showed him to be legit, but this speed shows that he'll be able to compete in any kind of international race, even if it's just sit and kick.
so whats next for Webb, does he have a race next week?
It takes 1:45/1:46 speed to compete internationaly. We finally have an American who can do it. Lets get krum to go after the 1500m and then we have two studs.I cant remember any recent 1500m Americans with those 800m times.Stember 1:48.
What about Lunn?,and other american 800m times in the last 24 months.
According to Sunday's front page, it was "a PR by more than a 2nd."
Who wrote that?
Wait, let me guess ... Larry Burns, the bastard son of Monty Burns on The Simpsons, who spelled "Yale" with a "6".
Seems pretty consistent to me.
