Ran competitively for 4 years in college and while I had some success with my coaches program, I never bought into his system completely. I've been designing my own program and any input is greatly appreciated. I think I have more potential as a 1500m runner but I also like to race 800's.I haven't included warm ups or cool downs but my total mileage is usually between 55-70 miles a week.

M: AM - Easy 25-40 mins
PM - 45-60 min progressive run, 3x100m strides, flexibility
T: AM - Easy 25-40 mins
PM - 5x800 or 4x1k @ 3k pace w/ 2 min recovery, 20 min progressive tempo, 3x100m strides
W: AM - Easy 25-40 mins
PM - Progressive 30-40 min, 20 min diagnols, Weights, Flexibility
TH: AM - Easy 25-40 mins w/ 6x100m strides
PM - 25-35 min tempo run (anywhere from 5:20 - 5:45 pace) 5-6 x 300 cutdowns starting around 47 w/ 2.5 min recovery
F: AM - OFF
PM - OFF or 1 hour easy or 15x150m @ 800m pace w/ 50m walk recovery
S: AM - OFF
PM - 4x400m @ 1500m pace (1 min recovery), 2 mile tempo or 20 mins diagnols, 4x200 @ 400m pace (2.5 min recovery), weights, flexibility
Every second or third Saturday I like to do a time Trial (3k, 400m, 800, 1600)
Sun: 60-85 mins progressive, all by feel
