Ready, go.
Ready, go.
they are skinny
they don't have much upper body strength
they run a lot
they live generally clean in terms of diet, sleep alcohol etc.
they hammer occasional runs
they have been injured
they stick to what their coaches tell them
The fastest ones tend to drink and party a lot.
The 2nd tier on the team tend to focus and put a lot of work into their training.

interesting observation but i would have to agree. the really fast ones i know drink, smoke weed, and party a ton. the ones that are almost as fast but not quite dont do anything like that and run a ton of miles and work their asses off. sad but true.

they probably like to think of themselves as blue collar too dont they? these types of guys like to train hard for the sake of training hard, not smart.

Dumb post.
In general, I would say there is an inverse correlation between partying/drinking/smoking and intelligence, which is to say that those of more intelligence would probably adopt the training approaches that have the highest probability of yielding optimal results.

so intelligent people are less likely to party/drink/smoke? what do you base that on? Have you ever been to a top 10 school? Those kids can party like the best of them. How many intelligent people do you know that don't party/drink/smoke?
which training approaches are you saying have the highest probability of yielding optimal results?

I aint got no PH.D in mathema-statis-numero-accounterism but I think you included uno too many
They love to run
They love to compete
They set a goal and don't stop until they reach it.
(The 3 I am thinking of have 5k times of 13:29, 13:54, and 14:08)
slight build
enjoy competing at running
put in the work
The fastest people I know were naturally fast before they started training.
Also the fastest kid on my college squad partied like a maniac. So I'd have to back up the claim that the fastest runners party. It's true in my observations.

Actually there have been many studies done relating high IQ's and increased drug usage. So basically the opposite of what your are saying. I don't have a source but if you really need one I could dig it up, pretty sure one of them was from CNN.
I also a agree about the drinking and partying (especially for the fast Juniors, but also seen in collegiate or post collegiate like Rono for example). Add possible problem with law... I always wondered if alcohol coupled with training could have some positive effects (even when taken to what some may call excess).
Another trait, especially for post collegiate this time, is an incredible level of self absorption.
They are Kenyan.
Positive Attitude
No Other Job
Kenyan
they have skinny abs (a six pack with virtually no effort), they have very well defined calf muscles, they are usually pretty stupid in school, they party alot
They have developed gradually, steadily, and for a long time.
They are good all-around athletes (this might be an aberration in my case) and all have good lift stats for their size.
They are all around aggressive, competitive people.
They hate the 400
They play football in college
They will play football in the NFL

Name one runner in the top 40 from NCAA XC Championships that lives this lifestyle? Runners who are not in the top 40 aren't considered fast. The "fast" runners take running seriously.
