My dog and I placed 1st & 2nd in 5k ... Race director won't pay up!

Obviously this didn't happen, but if it did it would be interesting to see whether or not the director would pay up... I don't see why not.

Was there the usual clause in the entry form, where the runner must sign that he/she understands and accepts all the rules of entry to the race?

Because I suspect that a false declaration would be grounds for disqualification.

Most certainly did happen and I'd bet $100 that my dog could run 13 or 14:xx if I had those abilities (he only runs as fast as I do as he's one loyal Velcro dog). He ran a 1:17:03 half marathon with me, 5:53 a mile, however, I didn't get top 3, thus not eligible for prize money.

Anyone that doesn't believe can show up to the Gasparilla 15k in march to see us run somewhere in the 5:45 a mile range.

Since the dog is under 18 and the op is it's guardian he could sign for the dog.

I did sign for my dog and used all my information to include address, age and phone, however put his name down. The race was chip timed and both my dog and I show up as 1st and 2nd in the printed results, however, only I was given a card when I crossed the finish line to fill out as the 1st place finisher. I'm not dearest on contacting the RD, but thout I'd check here to see if it's worth pursuing at all.

I entered my pet cheetah in a 10K but he started too fast and gave up after 500 meters.

It worked out in the end though.

Once he recovered, he ate a 200 pound race-walker and I won 3rd in AG, so it was a good day all around.

You didn't get 1st. The dog got 1st. Therefore you don't qualify for the $100.

The dog doesn't get the $100 because it's not a person and also it wasn't on a leash.

You don't get the $50 because you were interfering with the other runners, by running with a dog in the race, and by having your dog run around off the leash and out of control.

The question is how old is the dog really. If he is over 2 3/4 human years than he would be of age that he would have to register himself and could not have a guardian sign for him. This would disqualify him from the race. If under 2 3/4 then there might be an argument. If there is something about pacing though then you could both be disqualified.

An IQ less than 50 would qualify him as mentally challenged.

J.R., how can it be impeding other runners when the next human came in at 18+ mins. It was me and my dog after the first 30 seconds. I hate people that bitch to me about running my dog off a leash. He's the most intelligent/obedient dog I've seen and is never more than 10 ft away from me. If you know anything about dobermans then you know that most people regard them as the most intelligent and trainable of dog breeds. I could tell him to "lay", then proceed to run the 5k, and he'd still be laying in his same spot until I release him, no matter what's going on around him.

Dog is 16 months old, not sure what that is in human years.

Your dog actually ran 32:28. Since he has twice as many legs, you have to double his chip time. I doubt that time earned any money.

Hey man, I'm with you. I was walking my dog the other day when some runner came by, my dog ran up real friendly and bit him on the calf, knocked him down, the the jackass was complaining about me putting the dog on a leash!!! WTF?? I cussed him out and told him not to be such a weenie. The guy was crawling home, what a sissy. Anyway my dog is smart like yours. Whenever we go anywhere we're out in front and no one gets close to us. If anyone tries to pass us, my dogs just snarls or takes a few chunks out of them! I can certainly empathize here dude. Had my greyhound, "Skippy", run 5K turkey trot. Went out at 3:20 pace first mile, kinda died at end but still managed an 11:03 and race director won't give him his medal. Claims the timer didn't have finish mat down by the time Skippy came bounding in?!? WTF Had my Garmin on his collar & discovered race was at least 80 meters long! Again, WTF?!? Oh well. Hey, not only can you & your precious Doberman kiss my arse, but you can go back to race site & please pick up it's shite.
