Yes, it is difficult to find on-line information about him. As his son (I'm Ivan), who ran several marathons with him, it's actually surprising. My Dad, Peter, decided to begin running in 1969, when we trained briefly for the 3rd Annual Palos Verdes marathon, which he finished (about 5 hrs 45 min). I didn't finish but made it about 20 miles. My excuse was that I had just turned 10. Pete (b. Jan. 19, 1930) went on to run hundreds of marathons, including Pike's Peak 4 years in a row while being checked for medical/physiological condition during the run by Dr. Ken Cooper (Author of the book "Aerobics"). Pete went on to run races in Japan, Germany, Jamaica, and many other places over the years. He ran for his own enjoyment and because it inspired others to exercise. He explains this in the book ("Come Run with Me"). The reason he started running was because he had lost his job and was feeling like he was losing his control over life as well as his control over his weight. I remember his saying he felt flabby and out-of-shape. He figured he'd get control his body and so we began training for Palos Verdes. He gave inspirational talks for years and many people knew him. He was a substitute teacher at the Jr. High and High Schools for the Anaheim Union High School District where we lived in La Palma California ca. 1972-1974. He then taught math-English at Walker Jr. High School. He taught prisoners (GED) near Blythe ca. 1999-2005. He lived his last years in the Newport Beach-Costa Mesa area passing away (March 6, 2014) at the age of 84. He jogged occasionally until the very end.
