Everybody knows we have a relatively lazy society, even if us LetsRunners are active people. What is the best example of laziness you have seen? Not just about lack of physical activity, but just general laziness.
My favorite - Coinstar. People would rather dump their change into a machine and lose a percentage of their money rather than take a few minutes to organize their change into coin rolls and get 100% of it.
A few minutes? I've never used coinstar, but I'm pretty sure if I organized my coins into coin rolls I would be sorting at a rate far less than minimum wage.

I roll my coins, and each time I get a roll (50 cents in pennies, $2 in nickels, $5 in dimes, $10 in quarters), I take the roll to the bank and deposit it into my savings account. I've been doing this with my loose change for years.
Slobs who waddle around in Target with their Starbucks coffees, mochas, and lattes -- then leave the empty cups all over the damn store.

Coinstar is a pretty big rip because you can often find places that will do it for free. TD Bank and BoA among others have free counting machines.
As for the laziness of not counting them myself, I have things I'd rather do with an hour than sort pennies into evenly sized rows. It's a cost/benefit thing.

I said an hour, not hours, and I'm guessing at the time anyway. I only bother to cash in the change when my coin jar fills up, which is usually about $200 worth.

Same here. Don't generally cash the change in until I have at least $200-300. Never count it out. I always use Coin Star. As long as you either donate the money to charity or opt for a gift certificate, there are no fees. I generally use Coin Star a couple times a year. The first time I opt for a gift certificate either to the grocery store where I shop, restaurants, or Best Buy. When it gets close to Christmas, I take the change that I've collected for the past 6 months or so and donate it to charity. Just did that last week and donated $236.00. I think CoinStar is great and don't view it as the "best example of how lazy our society is". I find it convenient and an easy way to donate a few hundred dollars to charity.
I used to regularly see fat college girls taking the elevator down from the second floor to the first floor. The stairs were right next to the elevator, too.

This fall I watched me neighbor (man in his late 20s, no health issues) use a motorized leaf sucker to clean up his tiny lawn. Took him forever. Would have been much faster with a rake, but then he would have possibly broken a sweat, or even gotten a blister on his soft hands.
This happens all the time.
At a grocery store, I watched a fat goth 20-something chick leave her shopping cart between her car and a rather nice SUV. The shopping cart port was a mere 15 yards away from her vehicle and she couldn't be bothered to push it over there. As she got in her car, she watched me grab her cart and push it over to port. I was in a lousy mood anyways - so in a real sarcastic tone I said "oh don't worry, I know it's a long walk!". She gave me a snotty look through he passenger window and drove off.
The only reason the stray carts bother me is that I've watched far too many smash into parked vehicles on windy days. Imagine the anger of a new car owner coming back from a store and seeing a long diagonal scratch across the driver side door. I'll gladly take heat for my behavior if it means pissing of fat goths.
When I was in college, I was always amazed at seeing (typically) sorority girls idling in their cars in the first row of a campus parking lot, waiting for someone to show up and move their car, when there were numerous open spots in the third or fourth row away from the buildings. We were talking maybe 30-40 yards of walking that they opted out of.
I guess I take the laziness a step further.
I have a bag of coins, mostly rolled, sitting in my house for years that I haven't taken to a bank or Coinstar.
I prefer to view CoinStar as one of the greatest business plans ever written:
"Customers, here is the deal... You give us your money, and in return, we will give you back slightly less money."
CoinStar is a convenience thing. It allows you to dump a bunch of change in the thing while shopping for commodities and quickly get cash back. It all depends on whether you think it is worth 7 cents on the dollar (is it still 7 cents?) to not have to count and roll change.
I'm always amazed at the amount of shopping carts strewn across parking lots. It takes about 10 seconds to put it into one of the holders. People always complain that they "don't have enough time to exercise", yet they circle the parking lot for 10 minutes finding the closet spot instead of walking, and can't walk to 50 feet to put their cart away.
Cointstar will waive the fee if you put the value of the coins onto a gift card (they have many stores available). I always put it on an Amazon gift card and therefore don't pay any fee and get to keep 100% of the value of the coins I brought in for counting.
