Just ran across the latest installment from VO2Max productions and found it curious that they did not give a whole lot of splits or data on Desi, but gave every split and finish time on the remaining athletes in the group.
I stated in the previous thread that I can't remember the last time Desi didn't PR and I think she'll be the one to make it honest and likely win.
noticed the same thing. she didn't wear the hanson brooks sports bra like the rest of the women either. is she now going to don the brooks kit instead of the brooks/hansons kit?
She is going to be wearing Hansons/Saucony from what I have heard.

agreed. brooks is far more into selling their shoes to the rock and roll "insert city here" crowd than real runners. if desi wins the trials, she should renegotiate her contract or look for the big $$$.

My bad on that. Honestly a lot of times I don't know what paces the womens team is working out at so I am biased with recording more of the mens team splits (which I know very well for each pace group). I don't think I gave out everyone's finish time either. Desi's first 10k was 33:5something, I'm pretty sure I put that one on there

It certainly looks like Desiree Davila was running just as fast at the end as at the start. Which would mean 2:22-odd pace. Impressive!

Pretty surprising to get as much info as we are getting from Desi. The old school approach is to be mum on training splits to prevent competition from having an idea on how fit you are. Desi does look crazy fit. Trials look like Desi v. Shalane and Kara v. the field.
Still a great video. I've enjoyed the whole series.
I was thinking the same thing about keeping her time a secret but I talked to kevin hanson yesterday, and that is not the case...he said he thinks she is in about 2.21 shape and he also thinks shalane and desi will go 1-2 in houston. oh and she is NOT with saucony lol

boston is the worlds fastest course, but the hills have names so its obviously not flat. however id say kevin hanson is a decently reliable source when talking about a hansons athlete...

I run a run specialty shop and Brooks hands down makes the best shoes for "real runners" regardless of if they sponsor a marathon series, or not. List me a company that you think makes shoes for "real runners" and I will find you a $30-$50 shoe they've made for Pay Less, or sell at Sports Authority. Or some gimmicky shoe they made for looking good in the gym that doesnt perform. There are maybe two brands that don't qualify there and one is a brand you say isnt for "real runners".

Wow this discussion got off topic. What I was intending to point out was that the Hansons were very willing to give data on all their athletes except Desi. The motivations are either poker inspired and she's ready to drop a really fast one (what I believe is true and 2:21 sounds reasonable), or her Lisbon half is really representative of what she's got. Regardless she's widely viewed as the favorite, and with that label the field will respect her under either scenario which only helps her chances.
True. They also ignored her and the other women in another video. The one where they are doing a track workout. All they talk about are the guys while Desi is flying around in the background.
