I know he's world record holder in 800m, I wonder what he's done over 1500m. right now i can't access tilastopaja.com but I know he ran 3:43.91 in Tokyo 1995 losing to Hicham El Guerrouj

1993 - 1500 m 3,42.80 min
1993 - 1 mile 3,59.57 min
At his peak I would guess that he would run 3:30 or there abouts. He has basically the same PR's as Coe over 400 and 800

Joaquim Cruz has about the same 800 PR as Coe, but his 1500 PR is 3:36. It depends on how you train.

A little quicker than 3:36! You have to remember that these guys didn't or don't run 1500's that often. So I stand by what I said, Wilson would run 3:30ish, regardless of how he trained. If he had a 400 PR of 44 point then I would agree with you.
A sidebar:
In an interview with a Norweigan skiing writer, Bjorn Daehlie mentioned (in regards for the need to keep kids really, really active at young ages to improve later racing performance) that he'd been talking to Kipketer about early base training in Kenyan kids. KIPKETER MENTIONED THAT HE RAN 1:49 FOR THE 800 WHEN HE WAS 12 YEARS OLD.
I don't think it's possible to run 1:49 at that age, r u sure? Where is the link to the article?
I have a Danish newspaper article from Jyllandsposten from sometime in 2002.

There one 18 year-old Kenyan after another runs times which are at or near world record pace. According to Dagbladet (a Norwegian newspaper), Wilson Kipketer ran the 800 meters in 1:49 when he was 12 years-old. In the 40 years that passed between Audun Boysen and Vebjørn Rodahl (1996 Olympic champion in the 800 m), that time would have been good enough for a spot on the Norwegian National Team ?
Can anybody validate this? I posted the link, but just because it appears in the newspaper doesn't make it true.
bautista, you would be suprised at what your body can accomplish if you went out there and trained instead of riding el g's jock and posting on message boards all day. heck, i bet you could run some decent high school girl times if you stopped thinking of what people cant do and trade your ovaries for balls and go out and train and accomplish some things.
post of the week!
