I don't believe the Ethiopians are doing sprints after EVERY run, but after speed workouts. We (D1) do 3X50m sprints in spikes after speed sessions, and we got it from the Ethiopians. Even for mid distance, I doubt that full speed sprints more than 2X a week is necessary for max velocity development (many elite sprint programs only do this once a week).
I know that Renato doesn't like full speed sprinting (injury risk I think) so he does hill sprints only, but I don't know how prevalent that view is in Kenya.
I would also add some plyos (a few box jumps or hurdle hops and alternate leg bounding) to the routine.
