Greetings. This is my first post so I do not know the protocol, so please forgive me. I do have a question and I can't seem to figure out what I might be doing wrong.
I am 42 and have been running 2 years. My goal is to break hours in the half marathon. I have run 3 over the past two years and have a 5k at 24:30. My weekly miles range from 35-40 and over the past few weeks have hit 50 a few times. I recently started Daniels Blue Advanced Plan. My long runs range from 12-14. Yesterday I was going to do a 10 mile quicker than usual run. I usually pace at 10:00. After a mile warm up. I was at 9:40 and over a few miles got down to 9:20. I was going to do the last two miles at 9:00. I got the second to last right on target and then just could not hold it. I ended up at 9:30. Ten miles = 1:35.
I guess I need to build endurance, but don't know a good path to this. I am also discouraged. I feel like breaking 2 hours is not going to happen. My next half marathon is in April.
Any advice would be helpful as I am feeling discouraged. Thank you.
