Awesome. It's like a letsrun thread set to video
Why would he even show them his Garmin data if it shows him going 30mph for the last two miles? Claims it wasn't picking up the satellite correctly in the wooded section. They should have gotten him to show the map of that Garmin to see if it also follows the road when he was supposedly in the wooded area.
"A Garmin doesn't work on a bus"
Err - yes it does!
Unfortunately he doesn't seem to be an isolated incidence of Geordies being deluded - many I have met just cannot admit they are wrong - it is a North East personality trait!
Adding "It wasn't me" to the video is about the funniest thing I've seen in a long time!!!
what a douche - he even cut off the end of his Garmin reading
He must have taken a page from Dane Rauschenbergs book. Did he get on the bus and tell the driver to just drive?
Sounds familiar. He could have nipped this in the bud early on, fessed up, came up with some feeble excuse (I was hurt, then felt better and wanted to finish. Had no idea I was stealing someone else's prize.) and apologized.
Like Kip's situation, it's the pathological side to the story that stirs interest and gives it some legs.
Apparently he won the 10k race the day before by 2.5 minutes but I couldn't find the time. It must have been SLOW AS HECK since his marathon PR is 3:10. I feel bad for him, it must suck to be so slow while running 100-120 mpw. Of course, I'm sure every faster runner thinks that about slower guys.He was saying in an interview that sane people would think that doing a 10k then a marathon the next day would be stupid. Um...elites don't do that. That's stupid as heck to waste your bullets before the proverbial fight. But cheating sucks! That's why I'll hate on him.

Here's his race history. I think that the 10K was a race put on for slower runners as the marathon was the main event. I agree if you are running 100+ a week you would want to be running a lot faster, but considering his track record do you really think he is clocking 100?

If he's a cheat and a liar, don't you think there's the possibility that he's stretching the truth a tad when describing how many miles per week he runs?
I bet he runs half what he says.

Looks like he's a legit 2:50 marathoner based on his other times (at least some of which seem to have held up to scrutiny). He must have wiped himself out racing the 10k the day before. So he had a bad day, thought he found a way around it, and now has had a really really bad day. Too bad for him.

He's a Mackem though isn't he?
He's clearly lying. Only Gerry can accelerate to 30mph in a marathon.

I still can't fathom how when presenting the Garmin as 'evidence' that he didn't cheat, yet it clearly shows 30mph during the exact time of the bus ride, he can still sit there and claim that was just a malfunction? Really? Even after the bus driver and several passengers saw you, the Garmin shows 30mph, what a bus like that would be traveling, and yet it's just a bizarre coincidence that the device crapped out with crazy readings?
Like you say, the pathology and utter self-delusion is intriguing; I'm left wondering how a person's mind can get to a point where this somehow makes sense.
if you find this story interesting, this is a must-see movie.
check out the trailer..
I like how they made him run a marathon on the treadmill as part of the investigation.
That looks like a beautiful place to run. Is that where Cram is from?
Cram is the "Jarrow Arrow."

Exactly. To use the Garmin as evidence of not cheating is one of the funniest things I have ever seen.
Also, the scence where he is getting interviewed and the guy who really finished 3rd is standing behind with this pissed off look on his face is pure gold.
