When is the last time an American won? Like 8 years ago?

a "real" american has never won the race

Not if they suck as much as they have been for the last few.
Don't complain about foreigners being good.
Lukas V. came when he was 11 with no goals of running whatsoever. He started out playing basketball and only started running when he did a local 5k for fun.
And Futsum moved from Eritrea at around the same age.
Sure you can say that they're foreigners, but it's not like they came to the US just to dominate the sport (unless you think 11 year-olds with no running experience decided that they'd move to a new country to be great in high school...)
(I will admit that Cheserek is a bit of a different story though, having already been a district running champion in Kenya and coming here when he was 16)
Futsum and Cheserek are high school kids, who moved here with their families. Going through public high school in the U.S. makes you American for sure.
It's not like NCAA's, where people come here with the intent of running.

Actually, I'm pretty sure that American citizenship is what makes you American. Where you went through high school I think is not synonymous with American citizenship.
Hey guess what? Footlockers is not a US Citizens Juniors race. We already have that, and nobody cares. Footlockers is a championship for kids who run for a high school in the United States.

Fout, 2007. Imports since then, though Lukas isn't as bad because he came from a country with no running heritage and Futsum, according to another poster, came here young like Meb (as did Lukas). Haile, who is a known age cheat, is the worst. Cheserek doesn't look overage and there's no particular reason to think he is, but he did come specifically to run.
American-born runners are as good as they've ever been. It won't be long until another one wins.
he was just asking a question get off the man's nuts.
Will a white guy like you ever win foot locker again? Possible, but given lack of talent, very unlikely.
So will private high schools start recruiting overseas now? where's the line drawn?
I'm pretty sure over the pasts several years, someone born in america won the race.
Now, I'd bet this won't be the last time the top kid born in america isn't within sight of the winner.
Yes.
Is there another male Hall in the pipeline?

I hope you weren't replying to the message of my post. Because if you were it would imply that you are about as bright as an azalea.

All of these would have won the race this year:
Year Time Athlete Gr Reg Highschool City St Course
1999 14:29 Dathan Ritzenhein 11 MW Rockford H.S. Rockford MI Orlando, FL
1982 14:35 Eric Reynolds W Somis CA Orlando, FL
2000 14:35 Dathan Ritzenhein 12 MW Rockford H.S. Rockford MI Orlando, FL
1985 14:36 Reuben Reina 12 SO John Jay San Antonio TX San Diego, CA
1986 14:38 Marc Davis 12 W San Diego San Diego CA San Diego, CA
2002 14:40 Chris Solinsky 12 MW Stevens Point Area Senior Stevens Point WI San Diego, CA
1993 14:41 Adam Goucher 12 MW Doherty Colorado Springs CO San Diego, CA
1989 14:49 Bryan Dameworth 12 W Agoura Calabasas CA San Diego, CA
But nobody since 2002, and there's a mesage here. Yes, FL has declined in importance due to NXN. But international standards keep going up, and if athletes in the USA aren't willing to work harder, the slots open to them are going to get fewer and fewer.
I don't think Ritz and Reina would have had much trouble at Footlocker this year.
You're Kidding right? Ritz and Reina would just make the White top Finisher respectable time.

Did you notice that 3 of those were in Orlando, not Balboa Park?

Reina was probably never considered white outside of this argument.

Ritz was third at Junior World Cross as a senior, I'm sure he could have handled Cheserek and Zeinasellassie.

That and he ended up running 12:56 with the circumstances around that run not suggesting he should have at all.
