If for some reason they can't find a suitable shoe amongst the (usually) dozens of models that brand makes, they just have one modified to their liking by the customizers. No big thing.
There are even athletes sponsored by brands who don't even make shoes for their sport - like Nike and Lance Armstrong back in the day (an italian company made the shoes custom and they slapped nike logos on).
Ran for a club that was sponsored by a shoe company whose shoes didn't work for me. I raced in their spikes and flats, but traded my training shoes for another brand at a local running store. Don't think that would work for a high profile athlete though. Some guys didn't like the flats and spikes either, they removed the insignia and slapped on our sponsor's.
theyr'e all the same cheap $1.26 per pair chinese crap. no difference.
