Where attending college?
this guy Nick Ryan from Manlius goes out in 2:11 for the first 800 - that's not stotan, that's Boudican.
Ryan did well to hold onto 5th. Futsam dominated.
How is this "super hot" I'm the 4th post and the thread has been up for 2 hours.
For a while I thought NXN would usurp FLN, but I think the pendulum is swinging back the other way. Too bad the two series of races couldn't quite acting like little children and combine.
Yawn.

I believe it's based on the number of hits/views, not replies.

With African dominance now extending to NCAA mens individuals for the foreseeable future, and now extending down into the high school ranks for at least the next couple of years with Cheserek, I am guessing interest will wane here, too. Not saying it's right or wrong, just the way it is.
Why would interest wane? I like seeing top-level competitors doing their thing. Futusm vs. Cheserek is a lot more exciting to me than Little Hall vs. Forys. You have two guys each with the potential to break the Footlocker record going head to head. What's not to like? And at the collegiate level, who wouldn't want to see Lalang and Sambu and a fit Korir going head to next year? I love running, so I love watching good runners race. Yeah, it's particularly interesting if my next door neighbor is in the race, but I'm not going to not watch because he isn't competing...maybe that's just me.
the fact of the matter is that some people, and if you read this board for anytime at all you will realise this, dont really care to see some foreigner come over and crush the competition. Its just not that interesting. They want to see kids from america win. SOunds harsh, but thats the way it is.
I think it's probably just human nature, I don't know. Most high school kids, just guessing, probably would follow Foot Locker or NXN and aspire to maybe run in those races, more than they do the junior world xc races, just because maybe they know the guys or can identify more with them. Maybe it's racist or something, but watch any international broadcast and they always focus on their home guy - you see it with Canadians, Brits, whatever. Again, I'm not saying it's right or wrong, and I 100% understand your point about watching a good race.
its a basic human trait. We associate with those who are similar to us. Whether its race, wealth, age, religion we prefer to be surrounded by those who we can relate to. Being able to relate to someone draws interest from the person who is interested. High school Cross country and those who follow it is pretty much 90% caucasian so a peak interest will be when the top guys are caucasian. It's tough for the followers to relate to someone who came from Africa and has little mastery of the english language. It doesn't make it right or wrong it's just the way it is. It's no more racist than middle aged white guys liking classic rock and young black kids liking rap. I think anybody who elidgable should be able to race but realize there maybe some consequences with that. Me personally I don't really care if your missing fingers, your hair is green or you like men. A race is a race no matter who is racing. In high school the top guys in my state were Ahmed Haji and Gavin Coombs. These two had some great duels, and I remember rooting hard for Haji because he was an amazing talent and a pretty nice easily approachable guy.

I agree. I could not name a single guy running the race this year. I just know Cheserek was not running. I'm still not sure who Futsum is.

That just means you're extremely ignorant.
How do you not know Futsum? He was second last year at Footlocker. He ran 14:36 this Fall. You must not follow running.
"Little mastery of the English language"?
Wow. Hyperbole much? You have to be pretty dimwitted if you can't understand what Futsum, or Cheserek are saying when they are interviewed...or Chelanga, Lalang or Korir for that matter. Maybe monolingualism hampers peoples ability to understand their own language when it is spoken by someone who is not a native speaker. Either way, it does not bode well for the future of the US that it is producing so many people who are ignorant of people unlike themselves and who seem to revel in that ignorance.

I have to agree. It's just the way it is. It's not right or wrong just fact. The African is 50 yards ahead and is "the winner" and everyone politely applaudes and then anxiously anticipate the 2-4 place runners.

And I second that with a "Wow" to you and the way you put a sentence together. YOur "mastery" of the written language is concerning yet you dare to criticize. I'll say it again; WOW.
The written word is not your friend. lol.

I don't know. The writing seemed perfectly clear to me. What's the problem?
I forgot, what's this thread about?

I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
