This discussion of uniform restrictions has made me realize that I don't understand how USATF and IAAF are affiliated.
Clearly the IAAF is the organization which oversees the sport of track and field at the international level and the USATF is at the national level.
What I don't understand is how petitioning the USATF to change rules will help athletes' situations. They all still run under IAAF rules which will not change with new USATF rules.
Hopefully someone can help elucidate this for me.

The USATF can create whatever rules it wants to for its domestic meets. Many other NGBs have had rules that contradict the rules of that sport's IF. However, it gets tricky in that when athletes compete internationally they have to make sure they are in compliance.
USATF could relax its rules on logos for instance; however, US athletes would need to make sure that unis are in compliance with IAAF rules.
Having the IF and NGB in sync makes life easier to be sure, but I think uniform logos is an area for USATF to take a stand.
What is the definition of a domestic meet/international meet? Are the Pre Classic, Millrose, New Balance GP, Adidas GP domestic meets or international meets? They run on domestic soil but have many international competitors.
Even a race like the Cardinal Invite and Mt. SAC I would assume have at least Canadians.
The only IAAF meets held in the USA are the Millrose Games (IAAF indoor permit), Pre Classic and adidas Grand Prix (IAAF Diamond League), and NY, Boston and Chicago Marathons (IAAF Gold Label road races). Those are the only annual dimestic competitions that must conform to IAAF regulations.
This year's Millrose Games is not an IAAF Permit Meet.
The US Open at Madison Square Garden on January 28 is an IAAF meet.
I hope to see the DL meets in NY and OR cancelled so that athletes can display their sponsors logos. This IAAF fascism sucks. The USA team is the #1 T&F team in the world and we shouldn't have to have the IAAF stupid rules at meets in out own country.

I would immediately ban IAAF meets and marathons in the United States until the playing field is level and fair for all athletes.

The USA vs the World section of the Penn Relays is also subject to IAAF rules.
It is important to note that the USOC has jurisdiction over the Olympic Trials, and the USOC definitely wants tight advertising restrictions at the Olympic Trials.

Contact your Senator and Congressperson to remove tax-exempt, non-profit, and or charity status to any organization, meet, running club, federation, marathon, road race, etc. that does not allow atheles free enterprise to display sponsors logos on kits.
