I thought they were today but can't find any info. Does anyone know when they are and where they will be announced?

Yesterday at the NY Regional they said it would be today- but they didn't say a time. Obviously, that's very important to NY since they will get at least one of the at large bids in both boys and girls.
The announcer practically guaranteed NY would get a spot. I think the boys should get 2, but the girls maybe only 1. I actually think the boys have 6 teams that could compete well at Nationals- Shaker, FM, Arlington, Rush Henrietta, Farrell, and St. Anthony's.
The girls get's a little weaker at Canandagua the #4 team.

I think Rush-Henrietta would do very well at nationals, if they make it. However, I'm not sold on the idea that the NY boys should get 2 at-large invites... California is pretty tough, Palatine IL is deserving, Seattle Prep WA is deserving, Westfield NJ is deserving, and Bismarck ND is deserving. I'd put all those teams ahead of NY#4 (St. Anthony's).
I saw a post at va.milesplit.com that Midlothian had gotten in for girls....

The longer this goes without substantiation and with no other teams being announced, the more skeptical I become. Midlo would be a bit of a reach as a selection to begin with.
Local Paper reporting Redondo is going, Midlothian seems to have some internet chatter. Wow, not the teams I was expecting.
For the boys, Palatine (IL) got a bid.
Wouldn't it be nice if Nike would announce a time that at-large bids were going out and just get it all done in one big dump with a press conference?
The current system of rumor, hearsay, and indefinite waiting leaves a lot to be desired.
cali at large teams get crushed as a rule
for some reason they get 4 this year. Wonder why?
Simi makes it with an at-large bid
OK to pass up the NY boys but not taking the 3rd NY girls team is a joke. If FM and Toga are both in the top 3 Nike will have to explain why they passed up a potential top 7 team.
Weird decision.

If they still have the point system, then Simi Valley had multiple points on the girls side (beating Saugus twice and La Costa Canyon once), and both Golden Valley and Rancho had points (GV beat Trabuco at Mt. Sac and Rancho beat North Central, Arcadia and Trabuco (twice) during the season). Could be that the multiple points held by the #4s pulled in the #3s.

They did take North Shore.

North Shore was invited.
Isn't Glen Head the location of North Shore girls? If so, they were awarded an at-large berth.
North Shore was invited.[/quote]
My bad, I musta missed it.
Glen Head XC Club
Redondo Beach XC Club
Simi Valley XC Club
Chesterfield XC Club
OK, at the meet they called them the North Shore XC Club. Are they Glen Head?
Glen Head XC Club = North Shore
Redondo Beach XC Club + Redondo
Simi Valley XC Club = Simi
Chesterfield XC Club = Midlothian
Pretty good picks although Bozeman must be beside themselves right now. Someone always is gonna get slighted. I can't speak for the boys, but NXN committee did a good job here.
It would be a really good thing if NXN would put actual school names in parentheses or something to avoid confusion. i'm going to need a spreadsheet to know who's doing what next week. I understand the whole "club" thing to avoid breaking certain states' rules but when North Shore and Midlothian run under different names at regionals than they use at nats, it's gotten out of hand.
I think there are multiple teams feeling slighted right now. From a SW region perspective, Monarch girls beat Fort Collins consistently during the season and finished 3rd in the region behind FC and Xavier. Likewise, Fort Collins boys were 3rd in the SW, ranked high nationally (behind SW #1 American Fork and #2 Davis) very recently, undefeated in CO, finished on the podium a year ago with the same group of boys, and they did not get an at-large. Seems absurd.
From my standpoint, I'd say the SW region was overlooked and California (once again) was given too much consideration. No offense, Cali Dreams. I understand the quality and depth of your state, but teams from Colorado traditionally run very well in Portland.
At-large berths are a double-edged sword: great opportunity for those on the bubble, but very difficult to evaluate performances across the country. Every year someone is going to feel overlooked. This year it's the likes of Bozeman, Monarch, Fort Collins, etc.
