From the Salt Lake Tribune:
"'Miles sacrificed for team glory,' a pleased BYU coach Ed Eyestone said. 'He could have been in the group for top five.'"
Dude, will you please explain how finishing 14th is better for your team than placing 5th?
I understand the whole "pack running" strategy but not once during the entire race did Batty run with another guy on his team. Instead, he was tag-teaming it with Medina and others.
When speaking of Cam Levins, from Southern Utah, the SL Trib said:
"First, there was Cameron Levins of Southern Utah, one of only two Thunderbirds who qualified to run the LaVern Gibson Championship Course here. Without team concerns, Levins was able to successfully focus on his individual accomplishment and he finished fourth."
Making it clear that the only reason he beat Batty was because he didn't have to worry about his team as well that he was "one of only two Thunderbirds" who ran.
What BS. Eyestone, poor form. Everyone knows Batty is a miler and he won region b/c the first 6k was ran in over 20 minutes. You saw exactly where he is when he runs an even-paced 10k. Don't pull this hypothetical crap.
