If you've convinced yourself that it will hurt, then it will. If you think it makes no impact it probably won't make any impact.
Only distance runners could turn down sex because they have a race the next day.

Sounds like a good warm-up for the race, or pre-warm up at least.
how did the race go?
I think it's advisable, actually, but it doesn't have to be the ultimate test of your endurance
not bad. 4th place, and we conceived (we were trying), so win win.
Two words: Bob Beamon.
You can have sex an hour before the race to no effect.
Irrelevant question for most readers here.
Personally I don't think it has helped me but that's probably more to do with the fact that I'm out until 3 or 4am chasing it...
I pulled my gluteus medius because of this. The race was cross country and I hit a slippery spot on the course and my leg twisted and I pulled the muscle. I missed a few important races because of this.
Recently, I tightened up in the third mile of a 5k for this reason. It started in my back muscles and then spread to my diaphragm.
I am going to avoid it intentionally from now on before races. I hope my wife will understand.
Noakes talks about this in The Lore of Running and, if I recall correctly, says that in general there's no good evidence either way.
Bob Beamon wold say otherwise

Cross country runners do not avoid sex....sex avoids cross country runners.
Some thing tells me she will be fine.....
I found that if the sex was with some new tail, then I raced really well. If it was the same-old, same-old, then it didn't help at all.
Do's it matter if you have a partner???
Do you at least buy your hand some chocolates as a 'Thank you'?
