I saw Chris Solinsky speak at the NXN Heartland Regional last night. He had a couple of interesting things I hadn't heard until then:
1. He is currently rehabilitating an injury, and is coming off surgery that placed 4 screws in his leg to reattach an avulsion of his hamstring from his femur.
2. He plans to compete in both the 5,000m and 10,000m at the Olympic Trials.
3. He told Jerry Schumacher that he wanted to compete in the Olympic Trials marathon also, but Schumacher nixed his request.
4. During high school, his mileage was as follows: Freshman, 40 miles per week; Sophomore, 50-60 miles per week; Junior, 70-80 miles per week; and Senior year, 85 miles per week.
He stayed late at the banquet talking to the kids, signing autographs, and taking picture, then handed out awards on Sunday at the meet. Seems like a very nice, down to earth guy. I was very impressed. Good luck Chris!
