Am I the only one who thinks that the LRC community on a whole is going completely overboard in bashing Lukas Verzbicas for his decision?
The kid is 18-19 years old. He can't possibly know exactly what he wants to do yet, and the amount of pressure on him after his outstanding HS career is almost unreal. Let him make the decision for himself, and pursue success in whichever sport HE enjoys most, and thinks he can achieve the most in.
Obviously he left UO at a very poor time in terms of the team's chances for success this season. If his heart isn't completely into it, it isn't his is best interest, or the teams, for him to finish out the season.
Everyone who is throwing around the words 'selfish' and 'quitter' should probably look at their own selfish desires, as distance running fans, for LV to pursue success only in the sport of running. The LRC community as a whole is completely bitter that a young distance running prodigy is following the path that HE WANTS, and as a result he is taking more than his fair share of bashing
