Confirmed Sighting of Lukas Verzbicas in Colorado Springs Yesterday

So there still is the possibility he's not running regionals, is homesick and went home for a few days middle semester. Stranger things have happened, but wouldn't be surprised to see him leaving.

Last week he was tweeting how much he loved working out at Hayward.

That would be the weirdest thing about all of this -- that Lukas has tweeted over and over about the amazing experience of being in Eugene, running at Hayward, and various other aspects of the incoming freshman thing.

And 30 seconds after I posted that, confirmation (including quotes from Vin Lananna) appeared on Twitter. Lukas is leaving UO to concentrate full-time on triathlon.

WOw his roommate has a single for the rest of the semester. SWeeeeeeeeeeeet

Some things need to be clarified here.

A) There are NUMEROUS athletes from different sports working out at the training center that attend classes at UCCS. A few live on campus.

B) The "junior triathlon team" is not funded by UCCS, nor has anything to do with the athletic dept. regarding scholarships, etc.

yeah, he only didnt last because he has better opportunities! he doesnt have to run NCAA to be great. See all Kenyan runners. He is a class act, Vin wouldnt say he could come back if he wasn't a class act. He didnt have to say there was an open door, and he did. BOOM ROASTED SON!!

I can also confirm that I saw Lukas on Monday down at Monument Valley Park around 5:20ish. I was heading north near Colorado College and Lukas along with two runners and a man following them on a bike were heading south doing some kind of workout. I was pretty shocked to see him here, but as the CC kid stated, he was there.

I think I remember the original 'sighting post' saying he was wearing an Oregon jacket when seen in Colo. Springs? Is that what you saw as well?

Yes. Thats what caught my eye, and at the time I didn't really think much about it, but now everything makes sense. I think I ran by the CC kid after seeing Lukas as I also saw Ted Castenada timing someone in North Monument Valley Park.

That just sort of seemed weird to me, to be wearing the school jacket of the team you just left. He must have other jackets.
