Predictions for 2011 Footlocker High School National Championsips aka (The Olympics of U.S. High School Cross Country) ?

75 degrees. Clear and Sunny. Surf, Beach, Sun, Fun, Cerveza.

Cheserek if he decides to run it instead of NXN.

Otherwise Futsum.

Either way, an east African will win.

Girls race - parents and coaches will debate it but no one else really cares.

Futsum and Cheserek will only be at the real high school championships, Footlocker in San Diego. Where is NXN being held this year ?

It's Futsum Zeineselassie all the way. He's been awesome all year, won Indiana State meet last weekend by 44 seconds.

It'll be a race for the ages if the big two show up. Futsum showed he's go a lot of fight in him when he ran with Lukas for much of last year's race. Futsum has narrowed his choices to:

Purdue, Arkansas, Indiana, Northern Arizona, Oklahoma and another I don't remember now.

Footlocker is dying. The sooner people realize it and switch to NTN the better. They had their chance to combine with Nike and they blew it.

FL2011 is shaping up to be an epic battle. FL is the high school XC Olympics and is the #1 HS nat'l TV race show of the year.

Every high school cross country and distance runner in the world knows about the Footlocker High School National Championships and dreams of winning it.

They wear droopy shorts. Ugh.

Sure. Every young runner in Kenya and Ethiopia is thinking/dreaming of winning Foot Locker. That's funny stuff.

Futsum is officially entered in NXN for the first time. I believe he plans to run both.

I hope you realize that any kid from Kenya/Ethiopia would jump at the chance to run at FL, get recruited, and obtain a US college education. 99.99% of those kids are dirt poor and never make it out of poverty. Kids who get an engineering degree are treated like princes when they return home to a 3rd world country.

Likewise, I hope you realize that most of these kids from Kenya/Ethiopia have never heard of Foot Locker. Plus, access to a scholarship and a U.S. college education is certainly not dependent on running HS in the U.S.

yes they have. footlocker is the most famous high school cross country race in the world. kids and coaches everywhere watch it.

personally I like the Footlocker format a lot better. NXN is OK.

The problem with NXN has always been the course. It is more like a backyard obstacle course and makes the sport look like a joke.

More like a Tough Muddder course? ;-)

The NXN course is weak, gimmicky, and contrived. A cheap sales trick. Exactly what you expect from a nowhere place.
