I'm able to run 100 miles a week without getting injury. However, is there a higher risk of burnout/fatigue/overtraining with this?
I'll be running the mile indoors this year, and I'm not sure how to approach early winter training.
Should I run 100 mile weeks in November/December/January, or keep it around 80-85?

If 80-85 is what you've been doing, why don't you keep doing it only slightly faster.
When upping the mileage, you risk losing the quality of you're workouts. However, if you still think you can have 2-3 quality days a week ( don't yell letsrun, 3 quality days is fine for a miler) while running 100 mpw, they go after it!
high milage does not--i repeat--does not cause people to burn out.
if you're wondering about base training for the (i)MILE, upping your traing vol. will only help you aerobically as long as you don't get injured. no one is looking for real workout "quality" in Nov., Dec.
keep the milage a little slower and structure it well (with doubles)

Agreed. Once you hit 100, 80 and 90 mpw will seem fairly easy. I'm sure if you decide to run 120 mpw, a week of 'only' 100 miles will seem like a slight break.

Not everyone actually benefits from the mythical 100 mile week. Try to figure out what your max is. It may be 60, 80 or 95. As you start to approach your max you will feel when things are starting to let you know. Little niggling injuries that take longer than they should to go away. General fatigue and soreness. Remember, 100 is an arbitrary number.
You seem confident that you can do this without injury, but you're definitely putting yourself at higher risk and it might turn out that you're wrong. How much experience do you have running 100 mpw? If you have only done it for a couple weeks, then the fact that you haven't gotten hurt yet definitely doesn't mean that you can safely maintain this kind of volume.
My advice is to be a little more careful than it seems like you have to. Maybe do 90 instead of 100. Or if you really want to hit 100, maybe do weeks like 85, 90, 100, 85, 90, 100, etc. I'd try to avoid running above 90 two weeks in a row if you're accustomed to 80.
On the other hand, some people will definitely tell you to go for it, and just to be careful that a lot of the running is easy. I tried this, and it worked really well for me for about four months, HUGE prs, then I got hurt and got set way way back. Wish I had been just a tiny bit more careful. Then again, maybe you are more talented/resilient/whatever than I am and you could handle it. Since there's no way to really tell, I'd recommend being a little careful like I said above.

Will is right. Additionally, I've found that hours are more accurate than miles for finding that "cutoff". Right around 11 hours a week of running is all I can take at any speed. I can get away with a few more hours a week for a couple of weeks, but can't sustain it without getting sore, injured, or overly fatigued. Listen to your body.
There is no burnout. You will not lose quality on workouts. And you will benefit enormously. You burn out by pushing the pace too much so take easy days.
you can burn out with too much volume or intensity in your schedule. parasympathetic and sympathetic overtraining are distinct and well documented.
if your focus is the mile, put more energy into quality sessions. generally speaking, a good 40-60 miles/week will bring far more return than a lax 100 miles/week. if slogging around was all you needed for 1500/mile success, Webb and Lagat would never have broken any US records.

if he's had success at mileage as high as 80mpw it is extremely reasonable for him to build up to and undertake running 100mpw (give or take) for a few weeks, conservatively, during his base phase
i don't think anyone on here would recommend 40mpw with high quality workouts 4 months out from peak race, i certainly would not. lagat and webb are extremely talented individuals and i'm assuming the OP didn't break 4min in high school

As long as you're comfortable and recovering well, go for the 80-100 mile weeks. If you need to ease off or do less miles then you have the leeway to do it.

I just made the jump to 100's in August up for running ~80 in mostly singles.
Workouts at first suffered(it was also mid summer), just overall tired. Getting in 15 miles the day before a workout takes getting used to. Now after a few months I can handle both the miles and the quality.
I do three weeks up and one down. Keeping the doubles on the down. 60%-80% of previous high weeks. The down weeks you will feel like a rockstar and they remind you that you fitness is there under the fatigue.
I double up typically 6 days a week. I also like doubling after an AM race or workout.
Make sure you get enough sleep but that's true for running any amount of mileage.

100% Correct listen to this post. Do the mileage, but take your easy days easy. You also burn out by running too many workouts too fast. Read the Wejo - why I sucked in college.

I have certainly run a lot of 100 mpws, but not lately. I could at age 62 run 100 miles next week and not get injured, but that is not the point.
I doubt my body would improve just because it survived the running.
So the reason not to run so many miles is if doing so will not help your racing performances in the near or longer term.
