Tigers for DFL. Geaux Mark.
Where's it at?
Mississippi State FTW! Go Bulldogs!
vandy wins...by alot
SECs are in Knoxville.
Arkansas has the be the favorite for the men.
Go Vandy women and maybe this will be the beginning of the road forward for the men.
I agree the Vandy women will win; however, the men suffer from no scholarships. They are true student athletes that love the sport. They get good guys but will never get those types of guys they need to build a competitive sec team. I love the success of Vanderbilt though! I wish them nothing but the best. A good group of coaches and athletes.
They usually beat Vandy, and could be close to Auburn and Miss. State.

So, they're marginally better than a high school time? Is that what you're trying to say? Their fastest guy just ran 27:30. Wow, a DI college team's #1 guy goes mid-27's. Ouch. If it were an academic powerhouse and they were not a sports school, I could get it. But, they are ranked first in the nation for football, so, it's just a sports school. They need a new coach, someone who actually knows how to coach runners. And, who is willing to actually recruit. Tigers for DFL, again.

LSU is making a rationale decision here. No matter how much they invest in distance, they will never be competitive against Arkansas, OSU, Stanford, Wisconsin. It sort of like asking Wisconsin and Minnesota to compete against SEC teams in baseball.
So, instead of wasting good resource–like scholarships, a quality coach, and travel–on distance, it makes much more sense to invest in T&F–I mean, sprinters, jumpers, and throwers.
Hell, a team can win a national T&F title without distance runners, so why waste the effort?
Poor development of our young athletes is the reason we don't have athletes in sports outside of the NFL,NBA,NHL

No, this is worse than that. I was so mediocre in high school (really mediocre, like barely 7th JV my senior year despite running all four years) it never occurred to me to go out for XC at a DII school. Yet, by the time I was senior-aged I was running, on my own, times equal to the top guys on the team. That is not a 'rational decision' level that is 'we are pathetic' level.
Why not just kill the XC program. It's a mockery.
If LSU had coaches, they would win nationals. They have really fast black guys who run the 800, but aren't developed enough to do cross.

How rare is it to run a sub 5 minute mile AND bench press 225?
