what do you mean by "only scoring 4"?

Exactly, you have to finish five to score as a team and if you don't then you get no team score and no placing among teams. The ignorance on this board can be amusing, at times.

Brainiacs, when the winner of the race is on your team, he scores 1 point. Its like your team is only scoring four instead of five people.

Yes, the ignorance is quite amusing.

Anyway, I think Colorado wins. Stanford is overrated this year, they have two out front but are lacking the depth they had the last few years. I also think Oregon will run better. I think some of their young inexperienced runners got lost in the big Wisco Invite field, but a small race like Pac-12 will allow them to relax more and run better.

1. STAN- They'll win going away.

2. COLORADO - They'll better at regionals and nats.

3. WSU- Yes they'll beat Oregon.

4. OREGON - One of the Lukes will fade and no one to help.

5. UCLA - Improving, but not over the hump.

6. ASU- Better showing than last year, but not enough.

7. CAL - Not of consequence.

8. WASH- Don't have the horses.

9. ARIZ- Really good or really bad every year for U of A.

WOMEN

1. WASH - Was funny they were every ranked that far back.

2. OREGON - Hasay winning aids this team immensely in another close meet.

3. STAN- The chance for error in this conference is slim.

4. ARIZ- Top 4-5 teams will be so close, they are all interchangeable.

5. CAL - Won't surprise anyone at this meet, but will be in hunt.

6. COLORADO - Unsure if Coburn runs.

7. ASU - A quality team gets 7th in the conference.

8. OSU - Improving, but not enough to mix it up with top teams.

9. WSU - May have some injuries.

10. UTAH - Two great runners, no depth.

11. UCLA - Not sure what happened to this team.

12. USC - Will struggle.

How's the course look? Flat? Rolly? All grass golf course?

No biggie, but the race is actually in Litchfield Park, AZ, a few miles west of Tempe.

1. STAN- Should be able to cruise to victory.

2. COL- Need their #4 & #5 to have a monster day

3. OREGON- Will improve from earlier in season.

4. UCLA- Can surprise if they run smart.

5. WSU- Pack running is the key for the Cougs

6. ASU- Depth is just not there for the Sun Devils

7. CAL- Can't figure this team out. Roster looks good.

8. ARIZ- 1st place and then forget about it.

9. WASH- Wait until next year.

WOMEN

1. WASH- The Huskies are the ones to beat. Good depth.

2. STAN- Their #5 runner better show up on Saturday.

3. COL- Welcome to the Pac-12.

4. ARIZ- Good depth but where is Meyer?

5. OREGON- Could finish as high as 3rd if all goes well.

6. CAL- Not a good team under pressure.

7. ASU- Under-achievers need #4 & #5 to run fast.

8. UTAH- Newbies will have hands full to get 8th.

9. ORE ST- They have some talent but little depth

10. WSU- Cougars #1 is injured and might not run.

11. USC- Trojans not into distance running.

12. UCLA- Biggest surprise in the Pac-12. What happend?

8. ASU- Injuries have hurt this one time solid group.

9. ORE ST- They have some talent but little depth

10. WSU- Cougars #1 is injured and might not run.

11. USC- This team counting on too many freshmen .

Even with the thinner pack of the league meet, they need their 4/5 to support the 1/2/3. LV should have several more good kilos than he showed in his first race, which gets him pretty high up; he was 11:50 at 4km at Wisconsin, finished in 24:35 (24:50, adjusted for short last kilo). His training background is great but not specific to XC, but two weeks will make a big difference, as well a real goal. I suppose the real goal will be making NCAAs, and how they accomplish that is a strategy question that might put more focus on Regionals than Pac-12s.
