Weekly mileage: 20 to 30 mpw
PR: 39:xx 10k
12 week "cyle": took Hansons and transformed into Furman FIRST-like, with 3 runs (1 fast workout, 1 strength, 1 "long" run) and 2 swims a week.
Sample key workouts in the last 12 weeks:
Long runs:
14 progressive with last mile in 6:42
15 with 5 at 8:30, 5 at 8:00 and last 5 at 7:30 pace
16 with 5 at 8:30, 5 at 8:00 and last 6 at 7:30 pace
Tempo runs:
3 x 10' at 7:06 w/ 5' rest
6 mile progressive long run with last mile all out at 5:54 min/mi
10 mile at 7:25 ('MP' run)
Faster stuff: 16 x 30/30, Hill sprints, Fartleks/Sprints (as fast as 1' in the low 5s)
Experience:
2 years running, M/30, 1 previous marathon on less than 30 miles in the previous TWO MONTHS due to injury. Jogged 3:50, no bonk, some cramping but had an awesome time.
Plan for the race: I don't know. I can choose to:
1) Run the first 10M at 8:00, next 10M at 7:30, last 10k at whatever is left
2) Run from the start at 7:30 and risk complete destruction
3) Run from the start at 8:00 and try to break 3:30 instead
4) Even slower?
I know my mileage is ridiculous, but last year I ran the same marathon on NO running for 7 weeks. Can't do worse. I however don't know what pace to go out. Any advice greatly appreciated.
