The number of scholarships offered is not the question here. There is probably no NCAA Division 1 school that offers 12 DISTANCE scholarships. Most Division 1 schools have Track and Field programs and devote most of their scholarships to non distance events. I hear that Portland devotes ALL of their scholarships to distance. So if that number is 1 then they are better off than SOME top schools. If it is 4 then then they are better off than MOST top schools. If it is 7 or more then they should trophy every year. I hear that they have 7 or more scholarships.

a bunch of sub 9:00 2 milers and foreigners huh?
OK he has four foreigners. Joash Osoro, Alfred Kipchumba, Craig Hopkins and Erik Lars Malde
As for the sub 9:00 2 miles...that would be Dunbar and...who?
Scott Fauble 9:07
David Perry 9:11
Cody Wells 9:20
Matt Frerker 9:05
Charlie McDonald 9:21
Woody Kincaid 9:06
Chase Caulkins 9:08
Chris Borg 9:14
David Perry 9:11
Conner Whan 9:20
Jarred Bassett 8:41 3K
Those guys along with Dunbar and the four foreigners pretty much round out the top 15 at Portland.
And no, they dont get the full 12 scholarships. But they do use more than most.
