Hello, I'm looking for some opinions on whether to run my half marathon this weekend that I have been training hard for. I have what is likely a stress fracture on the inside of my tibia. Doctor says it will likely not show up on an x-ray but symptoms point to mild stress fracture or stress reaction (there is a painful spot that I can press on).
I discovered this a couple of weeks ago and immediately went to the doctor and then started cross-training, with a little bit of running.
I don't feel anything when I walk, and only when I run is there slight discomfort or twinge around the hotspot.
I have done a few runs with no progression in discomfort this past week, except for this morning. I started a shakeout run after doing a hard tempo yesterday. I decided to stop after 2k because the discomfort had increased, but still not really painful. It's more that I'm aware of it and am nervous about something bad happening.
I have 4 days until the race and I feel like if I rest/cross train with maybe a little run and strides the day before the race I will be OK.
Thoughts?
