What are Hall's Chances at Chicago ?
What are Hall's Chances at Chicago ?
If I made vegas odds, I'd say 1:4
i think his chances for winning arent very high, but his chances for a fast time i believe are good
Close to zero, but I'd give 25:1 odds.
Mosop will run WR!!! hall top3 for sure!!!!

Man I would love to see that play out. Thank god there isn't a high jump competion at Chicago.
anyone know how Hall does in warm weather? Looks like it will be mid 70s on Sunday.
I wouldn't be surprised if Hall is 2nd-3rd this time around. The only way he wins is if something bad happens to Mosop though.

Mosop will run high 2:04, which is excellent in Chicago. Hall will run 2:07, which is excellent for him.
I don't see any reason to suspect he'll beat Mosop, who has to run a very great race if he hopes to be on the Kenyan Olympic team.
No, Mosop ftw, Hall somewhere between 3rd and 5th.
If God wants him to, of course
Mosop probably has his eye on the WR if he wants that Olympic Spot. If not and if Geoffrey Mutai wins NYC then he's probably off the team so the WR would be his only way (if any) of getting himself on the team

If so, this could work to Hall's advantage. Were Mosop going out thinking WR or DNF, then DNF is the more likely outcome. Moreover, if he takes a pack with him there could be alot of carnage for someone running a sane pace to pick off.
I'd put Daba ahead of him, not to mention one or two other randoms (not including Mosop, who should win).
Hall will win.
Wasn't Hall using this to "practice racing tactics?"
To me that means he's going to this race just to sit with the leaders and harden himself at a fast pace through surges. I say he's with Mosop for about 30k, looking great the entire time playing with the crowd and acting like he's going to take it, then he'll look at his watch 3-5 times in a matter of 10 seconds and notch a DNF or falls way back after 30k to a 2:10.
i don't think he'll win, but i think it is possible that he'll set a legitimate AR to replace his wind-aided Boston PB.

He said he was going to run with the pacers as cruise control for the first 30k then start racing. IIRC he didn't want to be the rabbit and was going to run with the pack to even out the pace. And has Hall ever dnf'd a marathon? It's ridiculous that we give our best marathoner a hard time about enjoying himself racing.
Hall is a 2:04 runner who is young with lots of room for improvement. If he can do that on a tough corse like Boston then surely he can run 2:03:30 at Chicago.
