First off, that is Running Times, not Runner's World. RT is generally much more useful than RW. However, that writer was kind of being a dbag. The thread he was referring to was more than likely a joke thread with a bunch of non-serious replies and trolls. I don't think many people here actually enjoy seeing Fernandez struggle.
Some people here might be overly critical of Fernandez (among others), and there definitely are trolls, but at least this website has some serious running discussion. That is more than can be said for the forums hosted by Running Times or basically any other site. Thanks Brojos.
you do realize that running times and runner's world are two different magazines? and that you linked to a running times article?
bad troll, bad.
10/10.
I can only assume you intentionally gave the wrong magazine because no one can be that stupid.
They are the same magazines. RW bought out RT a few years back. Was there really not a single positive thing said in the thread? My posts belonged to the humorous, non-serious ones the author refered to.
Actually, that article refers to a website called letruns.com. This is a completely different website to letsrun.com frequented by possessors of the looser bowel.
They are not the same magazine. They have entirely separate editorial staffs, and policies and missions.

Yeah, and Chevy and Buick are two completely different car manufacturers.
The German thread was obviously full of phony joke responses from the very beginning that is had the makings of a classic like, ummm, ever heard of and deer Kara. How a guy at RT could have taken it as anything other than a complete joke is pretty amazing.
c'mon man, it's deer adam. that thread is really all he has going for him. you're going to take it away and give it to his wife? i think the guy'll snap if that happens one more time.
The article's author was completely truthful. That just doesn't jive well here.
that article is 100% accurate. letsrun blows hard
It think that's a pretty accurate summary of lots of LRC threads. The line between a joke and trashing someone is pretty hard to spot around here sometimes.
If you don't think letsrun is a joke, the joke's on you.
Google Ryan Hall and letsrun. The moderators delete his quote any time I try to post it. What you see in the RT article is how the track and field community actually feels.
coach d is one of the reasons an article like that is written
Letsrun is a joke. It is the tabloid of running websites. That said, who else is making money off Times New Roman font in an oval made on MS Paint?
Did anyone actually think that he was to be found drinking a pina colada at Trader Vic's? That thread was definitely about joking, even if some others often aren't.
Running Times was 100% correct. This board is full of jealous wannabes who'll never be good enough to hang with German for even half a mile.
Unfortunately, part of the price of excellence is having to put up with a bunch of whining weenies. On their bad days Fernandez, Webb, Solinsky, Rupp, Teg, Hall, Lagat, or any of the other studs would trash 99.9% of the ninnies who post here.
Letsrun is the id of running. It's not always pretty.

That's quite good. It shows a side of running/runners that even long time runners haven't seen anywhere else. Anonymity (total or relative) and insecurity are a potent mix.
