Looking for a bit of advice with regards to my training over the Winter.
I'd like to run the aforementioned times next Summer, but as this is the first time for me setting goals and trying to put together a schedule, I'm looking for a bit of advice with regards to how it should be put together.
Background: 24 years old, just back running after a 6 year layoff. Back in the day I ran 1:58(800m) and 4:14(1500m) off 6 months of 15-18 miles a week. Things got a bit tough after that with regards to work, so running wasn't top of my priorities. In other words, I stopped training.
Long story short, I want to get back competing and try to maximize my potential!
Started running again last week, easy 3 mile runs to get the legs used to it again. Haven't trained in a few years but surprisingly my legs haven't been tired after any of these runs.
I could most likely hit 17:30 for the 5k right now and 4:40 for the 1500m. I don't think speed will be a problem with regards to my goals, if i was to guess I'd say I could run 52 or so for the 400m, that's off no training either so I'd expect to be a second or 2 faster come Summer.
I'm looking for some advice from anyone willing to contribute with regards to training if they've done something similar, ran similar times etc... Basically I'm not sure what mileage, paces etc to be hitting.
All input is much appreciated!
