I was just wondering something about how Paula's world record is no longer recognized because she was "paced" by male rabbits or whatever.
And I've noticed that other threads have come up about other men's world records in which pacers or rabbits were used... and that they might not be 100% "legit" because they were "assisted" and not done all alone.
This may seem a little odd, but what about the 200m and 400m events?
I mean... if you're running in Lane 1, Lane 2, Lane 3 or whatever, you can see guys (or girls) ahead of you. And you've got someone to gun after. There's gotta be some sort of psychological advantage to that.
So... in keeping with some of the other poster's theories of how, say, Geb's 2:03:59 isn't 100% legit because it was paced or whatever, what about Usain Bolt's 19.31... or Michael Johnson's 43.18?
Even though everyone in those respective races were running the same distance (and there were no designated rabbits) they still had someone in front of them to go after... even if it was only for a few seconds.
This post will probably attract a lot of juvenile, troll remarks... and that's fine. I know what LetsRun is all about. But it would be interesting to get a few more takes on this.
