Who are the top elite distance runners, past and present, with the most awkward running form? Male and female.
Joan Benoit has been in the news recently and it sparked my curiosity. I watched Joan Benoit finishing in Boston and it was horrendous.
I know I have misjudged many runners in warmups based on their gait. Soooo?

Omg Erin Donohue is the WORST! I will never understand how she is fast. She has terrible form and she is 30lbs heavier than any of her competitors. Fast forward to 1:50 she is the fat one in the pinkish top thing in second.
Don't want to start a debate about his "eliteness", but David Kinsella (University of Portland alum) had a pretty awkward gait.
I'd swear that he used to do a full helicoptor with his trail foot. This still shot does not do it justice.

Jen Rhines has a bad running style. It always amazes me how she can run as fast as she does.

Yah her running form is WEIRD! But she's definitely not fat, she's just very built. She's like a tank. She looks like a sprinter or thrower (I know she did discus in HS)
Former US marathon record holder (2:10:04), Pat Petersen. He rocked back and forth in his upper body, but he was smooth below the waist.
How about Kim Smith?!? She is definitely NOT smooth...
I've never seen Kim Smith run but there is something bizarre about her body- too long torso or something.

Zersenay Tadese and pretty much anyone else from Eritrea. I read somewhere once that Tadese had the highest running economy ever measured. I have NO idea how that's possible! He is ALL OVER THE PLACE.
