We all know about the guys who fell off big time. But what about guys who were trucking at 18:00 5Ks and went on to success? Any candidates?

Josh Eberly... The guy went from a 4:35/10:09 guy in HS to a DII stud for Western State. His college PRs were 14:06 and 29:25 and he was DII XC runner up.
Keep this thread going, this could be good stuff.
Hagland of Haverford wasn;t anything special in HS either. I think his best time was something like 9:50 for two miles. He won DIII cross, indoor DMR, and outdoor 5k/10k double his senior year. pr's something like 14:19,29:45?
Brian Berryhill wasn't much of a track guy before he went to Colorado State. I think he was a decent 400 runner, but more reknowned for his football talent. He went to CSU anyway and trained originally to be a 400 runner, but started hanging out with the distance guys because he liked them better or whatever, started going on runs with them, and the rest is history, I guess you might say.
About Berryhill.... His HS is in my district and I remember hearing that he won the state 800m too. At least once and maybe twcie.
Berryhill was an outstanding high school runner. He won the 4A (biggest) state 400m 3 times and 800m 2 times. He was a 48 sec 400m and 1:51 800m runner. He definitely was focusing on the sprints too much, but he showed talent and potential in high school.

Didn't suck in HS.
Haglund ran 14:14, and 29:40ish, as well as 8:56 solo at conferences his senior year.
Pat Porter use to tell me how bad he was in High School and College but would tell me how good his teammates were.
Can't believe no one has brought this guy up. Tom Mcardle. I mean what was he, like a 9:30 2 miler in HS. Junior year he ran 28:18. He has my vote!

This is an interesting list, its not necessarily better to be on the top or the bottom. I'm really only interested in people who have broken 4:00 minutes or the metric equivalent 3:41.45 or T&F's 3:42.2 here are two great lists sub 4 milers and sub 4 milers chronologically
If you are on those lists please submit me your HS pr and I will add you to this list. Thanks
