BANK ON IT!!!!!
you are cut off beer
The odds of Rupp getting a faster PR than Gebrselassie when he's been crushed in the shorter distances by even a Bekele just returning from injury are virtually zero
I'll try to remember this post in 2017 when he finally runs one.

If Rupp is ever able to run a 2:03, Bekele will have moved up and will be under 2:02 so it won't really matter. Rupp has great track speed. But the marathon is a beast and running under 2:04 is near impossible. Only 3 or 4 people on earth have a chance at it. I don't think Rupp will ever run a marathon faster than Geb but enjoy your fantasy.
Not sure if 2:03 is what it'll take, but I feel very confident that whatever the national record is on the day Rupp goes after it, he'll break it. Just not sure when that day will be or what that time will consist of. Either way, this kid is nasty good and has Salazar and the gang backing him 100%.

Yeah, Salazar has a phenomenal track record coaching marathoners.

I never implied Salazar had a great track record with marathoners. Actually, I'm well aware that his track record is "okay" by even our American standards. Rupp, however, is a different beaset altogether. Whatever he needs to get the American record, Sal and the gang will make sure he has.
2:05's a very good probability for him.

Alberto has proven to be clueless in the Marathon. Do you believe that Rupp will switch coaches?
Rupp will debut in NY (which is a huge mistake) for about a half million appearance fee. Mary and David love track speed.
Alberto has proven to be that rarest of human beings; someone who continues to look at his current results, and continued to look to adjust and innovate towards a goal.
If any coach can get an American man on the podium, it will be Alberto Salazar.
"He's got this covered."

Well he coached that guy who won new york 3 times in the 80's and won at boston
Oh no wait that was HIM
Who was his coach back then?
