Next stop Kenya and Ethiopia. America will be contending in distance events soon enough
I am sorry,
Wheras the Japanese economy is booming (such that the larger populace has jobs and disposable income), Kenyans are still struggling to overcome a recession and therefore, very few have money to eat fast foods. Those who can afford with ease don't even run in the first place and thus, targetting them with a 1$ Menu will not harm the sport. Runners eag Ugali, chapati and tea.

Ignorant NativeSon,
I am tired of your posts. Please know of what you speak. The Japanese economy is not booming and hasn't been since the end of the 80s. Sure, it is an economic powerhouse compared to Kenya, but the cost of living is also one of the highest in the world. The fact is, that (and I know this from currently living there) Japan is in a recession. Your definition of a "booming economy" is very subjective. I'm sure my opinions on the Kenyan economy would be so, too. Thus, I will refrain from commenting on them. Japanese, in comparison to 10 years earlier, have much less disposable income (also they are the biggest savers of income in the world based on percentage saved of income). That combined with a lack of time due to work and other obligations has made the cheap fast-food attractive. We have a 100yen deal on a medium shake going on until the 27th and along with myself, I observed many ordering that only. The counter people, unlike those in the states, didn't ask me if I would like "fries or a meal" to go with that shake either. A relief as I felt no obligation too. A great pick-me-up after the 36 km training run @ 3:30/km. I am sure that the average "jitsugyoudan" or corporate team member doesn't eat the stuff either. Most teams have a cafeteria at their dorms where healthy, rice-based meals are served as soon as they get back from their training.
Thank u for enlightening me. Perhaps I should have said strong as opposed to booming. Ignorance is bliss.
