In Rieti, Italy where I will run the 3000m on Saturday. To run a PB, I'll have to go under 7:29.00! I'm going to try it-
If it weren't for the fact that Lagat has continued to set PRs this year (5k and 2-mile,) I would say no, but because of that I think it is quite possible. I'm guessing he'll run 7:28.5-7:29.5.
Rieti is fast so it is possible.
On a somewhat related note I would love to see a couple sub 8 2 mile attempts from anybody.

Why, yes--run in Rieti!
He closed very, very quickly during his AR run last year, coming from way back to to almost catch Tariku Bekele at the line. No reason to think he can't take a little more time off if the race allows it.

It depends on what the rest of the field does.
Lagat does not tend to go right behind the rabbit. He races and follows the competition.
If the others chase the pace then Lagat can get the record.
no way the overall race is fast enough. his 5k AR would be way faster in better paced races, but the trend lately doesn't seem to be in that direction.
