Did you mean the Air Streak Spectrum Plus ? It was white with yellow/blue "flames" and then the next version had red/blue "flames". Those were fantastic flats for everything from 5K to the marathon.

SOLE
Less heel to toe drop.
UPPER
Streak XC2 or even Mayfly (but with a stronger attachment to the sole, rips off too easily)
LACES
More minimalistic (e.g. like Streak XC). Play with colors that match (or don't really) the shoe.
DESIGN
Color and design that matches the super light elite singlet(s) in a smart way. Think Olympics 2012, classic races (NYCM, 5th Ave Mile, Fukuoka). Not immediately obvious with large prints because that prob wouldn't sell enough. Do it in an intelligent wear so the stuff can be more freely combined.

Bring back the Spiridon Gold, call it the Lunar Racer, and you'll have a top-seller on your hands.

Thanks for all of the input so far, keep it coming.
So, when it comes to colors if you had your choice between neon green or neon orange vs. white with one red swoosh and one blue swoosh, which would you pick ?
None of the above. I'm not big on neon colors. I'm not a fan of white running shoes either with the exception of a true racing flat and the LR is "go to" training shoe for me. Personally, I'd pick somerandomdude's black suggestion over your 3 options. But I'd still prefer medium grey upper with a black swoosh and black midsole - that would be cool!
The OG lunaracers were just great.
- They were responsive yet soft
- they fit well (excepting the part that would rub against my achillies which has been mentioned.
- They were simple, yet had real pizzaz in their style
- Lasted 500mi in training/racing.
- Were light enough to train and/or race in without feeling like a nothing shoe (e.g. mayfly, victory, wave universe). (Save the nothing shoes for special occassions!)
Stay close to the original in the functionality and fashion. That's my vote.
4mm heel toe drop would be awesome. As it is the shoes are just a bit too high back there in the heel. Seconded on making the upper something like a slightly more structured streak XC.
Obviously other people have different tastes but personally I hate shoes in gawdy godawful neon or metallic colors.
I assume this is a marketing deal to make the shoes more noticeable but I hate it. They look like little kid shoes to me, like somebody is playing space ranger.
always feel bad rubbing it in, but many moons ago a CA store called copelands had those blue flame streaks on the sale rack....buy one for 49.99, second one is a penny....so i bought about 13 pair, iirc....still have about 3 or 4, brand new in the box....still love em too! might be time to bring them back!
cheers, dude-
I love bright colours for racing. All of my training shoes are white and it's boring; the brighter, the better!!!!!
Nikeman,
Make them white with a red stripe on them, like a very old pair of Nike Zooms.
Can't remember the exact name of them, but I still wear a pair from college and get compliments all the time. If you can get me another pair I would be so thankful.

Yeah...I didn't think about that...4mm drop...awesome.
And maybe a clear swoosh?
I like the fit and feel of the original Lunaracer as well as the rereleased version. I didn't care for the Lunaracer too. The toe box was too roomy and I felt like I couldn't run as fast.
The new version shouldn't differ too much from the original. In therms of design, I'd like to see an all white upper, white sole, blue swoosh, red laces and collar.
no...the Air Streak Ekiden was the shoe for Catherine Ndereba when she was tearing things up. Its the same outsole/midsole combo of the original Air Streak Vengeance that John Kagwe wore in his NYC win (where he got them at the expo). But it was most recently used in the Air Streak XC used by many runners. Best flat Nike has ever come out with.....though a lot of folks love the extra cushioning of the lunar line. In addition, I personally like the Air Luna Mariah with the traditional old school upper.....the Luna Racer ones tear up my feet. Not much "give" them to them.
the lunar trainer????
just re-release that. all the other lunat shit is crap!

That's the shoe I was talking about. The Japanese version of the shoe had a white upper with a smaller red swoosh and red trim. I'll send a photo of the shoe if you want: mayeroff(at)yahoo.com If Nike brought this shoe back I would buy 10-20 pairs at once.
The Spectrums did not work for me since my feet are somewhat narrow and the forefoot of the Spectrum was too wide for me.
The Air Streak Ekidens that I was talking about fit me like a glove.
Again, just keep the colors simple. Real runners just want a shoe that PERFORMS.
Nikeman, you seem to care more about the goddamn colors than the way the shoe PERFORMS. Like I said, I'd wear hot pink shoes if they made me run 3 seconds/km faster! I think that I can speak for the majority of the runners here when I say "WHO GIVES A FLYING F*** ABOUT THE COLORS?!?!?"
When Nike released the Air Streak XC in 2004, it was not nearly as good as the Air Streak Ekidens. The sole/outsole pattern was the same, but they fit was not good (too small in my usual size of 10.5) and did not have the "bounce" or the durability as the Air Streak Ekidens.
I advise that Nike just bring back those shoes that Ms. Ndereba wore in her best marathons in 2000-2004 then everything will be good and right in the world!
Jason
funny, sam Ndereba was wearing those exact flats today at VB....
The Lunar Racer is the only shoe I run in. I am 40+ 45 to 70 miles per week hobby jogger.
Prefer the first version.
LR-2 gave me terrible shin splints. Gave up on them and switched to the Kinvara.
LR+1 is acceptable but a hair too soft - but still the best shoe on the market for me.
I've had five pairs of various versions. The original was best.
No complaints about the first version whatsoever. Don't care about color one bit.
Bring back the original before you started monkeying with it.
I have never worn the Lunar Glides, but I'm very into shoe styles.
I personally like the neon colors, I think they give off a "new and modern technology/cutting edge science" look.
but I can still appreciate a more classic look like blue and red swoosh
also, nikeman - If I have an idea for a nike commercial, do you know who I should try to contact. I tried searching, but all I could find was that they have a marketing company called W+T or Wipro (?)
