Bolt fs, Bekele drop out, Robles contact/dq, "unknowns" winning, etc etc etc.
I like it! :)

It certainly hasn't been predictable.
We also had the privilege of watching a Latvian long jumper chat with people in the crowd after her competition - With about 8 laps remaining in the 10K.

It shows we can never take anything for granted.
No Berlino :(

Meseret Defar pulls out, Baala falls. I heard he was reinstated but I haven't verified it.
Pfft that's a Latvian matter!

And being able to see all the close=ups of the cheerful local spectators - instead of - oh look, there's Galen biding his time at the back of the lead pack...there's Galen still at the back of the lead pack...look at Galen finishing at the back of the lead pack...just give the results page.
oh i dunno. I'm enjoying it. It's good to see other countries other than the "super powers" finally get to the medal stand.
this bodes well IMO

Instead of the Jamaican Bolt winning, the Jamaican Blake won.
Instead of the Ethiopian Bekele winning, the Ethiopian Jeilan won.
Instead of the Cuban Robles winning, the American Richardson won.
The super powers are still winning.
But I do like the anything can happen scenarios being played out.
That's why they play the game.

I think this world championships is playing out similar to the tour de france earlier this year. Better doping tests have lead to a more level playing field where nobody is so strong they can just enforce their will on anyone else. This makes the results much closer and more unpredictable.
This reminds me of a World Champs (maybe 93?) where they called it the "changing of the guard". New winners, new medalists, out with the "old" and in with the "new".
I've also noticed the slowish times- men's 100 only 1 under 10? Men's 400 was a bit slow.
Maybe:
1. We're reaching the limits
2. Drug testing is getting better and more athletes will be clean.
I'll take good competition over fast times any day.
***Although, I do think Bolt got screwed in two ways-
1. The guy next to him flinched, should have been a restart.
2. I don't like the rule- for HS, for NCAA, for Pro's.

Where are the surprises? Minus Bolt's false start, the results would have been Bolt, Blake and Dix, as predicted. Jeter, VCB and KAB as predicted in the 100m. Robles, Liu and Richardson were the first three across the line, as most thought they would be. Farah was right in it until the final strides, bracketed by Ethiopians. The top billed Kenyans won the women's 10000m. Adams was in the best form of her career over Ostapchuk with Camarena doing well for the bronze. Harting repeated as world champ. Ennis was great apart from the high jump and javelin. Rudisha and Kaki went 1-2 as predicted. Kirani James repeated the form he showed in London. Montsho won over Felix, no shocker there.
Why must you use such language? Are you 51 going on 15?
It has been a very disappointing and not-so-exciting meet for me. I'm still looking forward to the remainder of events though.
how bigger a surprise do you want that both getting a DQ?

How is that a surprise? It's a track meet and the odds of multiple dqs, even amongst favourites, are very good.
Bullshit. How often do world record holders get DQed from their events in the World Championships?
In a good meeting on the circuit, you can count on most favorites
In a championships, not always the best will win because of pressure/nerves

Adults can curse too you $$#$3#$#Q$@#
But seriously, foul language does not means immaturity. It means informality. This website does not appear to understand that.
