My wife follows the sport mainly because of me and I just got an email saying "keep me updated on the pistorius news."
I did find it interesting that Pistorius who is known for not being able to run turns well by chance got lane 8 today.
Another journalist told that the IAAF's worst nightmare is if Pistorius makes the final.
I think they'd like him to make the final but not medal. It would be good publicity for the sport and the unfair advantage he has does not do too much damage.
Some people think that Oscar Pistorius is sandbagging it--he could go way faster if he tried, but he's running juuust fast enough to make it--sure enough, in the final, he'll run juuust fast enough to get a medal.

the guy doesnt have legs. If his artificial leg things gave him some super advantage, he'd have exploited it by now and set a wr. The guy is there solely due to hard work. Plus the IAAF already ruled he could compete, so if he wins, the medal is his.

When amputees dominate the sport, we can revisit the fairness question. Until then, I'm happy to give them the benefit of the doubt.

Wrong, it's not fair. It's sad but you can't have artificial body parts and compete with people who don't.
What if a pitcher had some artificial arm or a football player with arms that were stronger. No one would question it.
It's just no politically correct to be truthful and honest.

Bear in mind, all, that the IAAF's scientists said he had an advantage, and the IAAF didn't want him in. It was the CAS (Court of Arbitration for Sport) that said he could compete, and the IAAF was bound (contractually, I believe--could be wrong there) to follow its ruling.
