She said she closed in 55-mid, which would mean should would have gone 66 flat to low pace for 600, then dropped the pace significantly. This seems really fast, worth maybe 2:31-2:32 evenly paced?
not that it's a super commonly raced distance, but what is the current 1k AR? that can't be too far off it. How about the WR?
Good enough for anywhere from #3-#7 all-time US. Not in the top 10 for the world.

Yes it is just practice but running a 2:34 for 1k in the month leading up to a major championship is significant. It certainly bodes well for her chances in daegu
Yeah fersure...Morgan has ALL KINDS of trouble "Closing the Deal" in races.

Regina Jacobs is untouchable
It's around 3:52-3 1500m pace, not suggesting she could keep going at that rate for another 500m of course.
The fastest 1k ever recorded en route to 1500m is 2:33.02 by Qu Yunxia in her WR race.
She THINKS she ran 55-point for the last lap. She THINKS her time was 2:34-point.

Anyone else more surprised by closing in 55 than the total time? That's MUCH much faster than women's races traditionally close, no?

Except by the 15 or more girls who ran the 1000 faster than her.
Anyone remember Alan Webb's sick 1000 before the 07 World Championships? How'd that turn out for him?

But doing it 5 days out from opening heats of a championship is pretty close. 7-10 days out would be optimal.
Rolling the dice...
Wow, almost everyone on the world list and both Jacobs and Hamilton were dopers.

I could well be wrong, but I'm thinking that Mutola, at least, came by her "bonus hormone" naturally and may not have doped. Have you ever gotten a good look at her?
http://www.itusozluk.com/img.php/70590b32d163621d605abcc6aa6d24445689/maria+mutolaWhich, by a natural and easy transition, makes me think that Semenya, in the right race, could take the 1000m record well below 2:28--maybe 2:26.
http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_pGIhhZ4idvY/Swg4h8R1mxI/AAAAAAAAALM/IGSQNvcoaW0/s1600/Caster-Semenya-001.jpgthat's a good run
maybe it's worth 2'31.5 - 2'32.5 flat-out ( we haven't got exact splits )
with her current 800 ability of close to 1'58-flat - let's call it 1'58.00 - 1'58.25
1'58.00 - 1'58.25
with
2'32.5 ->4'01.6 - 4'02.4
2'32.0 ->3'59.5 - 4'00.3
2'31.5 ->3'57.3 - 3'58.2
superficially, i like the look of about 3'58+ potential currently ( if her endurance extends "perfectly" to 1500m - she may still be more a 800 gal than a 1500 one & got lucky with no regular 3'58/3'59 gals blasting the circuit regularly - she was winning slow races with her superior sprint )

Yeah, that's what she thinks!!! You want her to tell you something she doesn't think???
She can only say what she thinks not what she doesn't.
You told us what you think and I've now told you what I think.
