They definitely follow the same philosophy that guides that published schedule. That is, a balanced approach (not over-emphasizing one particular workout such as the long run), cumulative fatigue, etc...Of course the pro runners are running more mileage then what they recommend for a non-elite with a job, etc. Therefore, a Hanson runner running 115-140 mpw will be running further than 16 for their long run, but as a percentage of their week it is likely even lower than that of the 16-miler in the schedule you're referring to.What is it that you find so hard to believe?
