For those of you who try to maintain a running streak, what is the minimum distance you have to run? One mile? More?

It says one mile in the article.
My minimum is 50 feet. I have a nearly 21 year streak going. I couldn't count in good conscience the use of crutches after I broke my ankle all those years ago.
3 miles
Definitely 3 miles. Or 25 minutes if you are on crutches.
3K
I would use 3 miles as a minimum. I have had two multi year streak, but never extended them by hobbling through an injury. I run because it is fun and to prepare to race. Gimping around on a broken ankle wouldn't satisfy either of those reasons.
I am not sure if Mr. Chandler is a good example to follow. Based on the article linked, "...He has also run through a kidney stone and a mild stroke."
I am all for consistancy and applaud the willingness to get out the door regardless of the weather. However, if you have had a stroke I think you should take the day off.
2 miles was my minimum.
Anyone who is interested in streak running has to develop their own rules. Mine was 30 minutes back when I designed a 100 day streak. It was dumb and I got slower and crippled up. Best distance, in my opinion, for the minimum run is couch to frig. If you go back for another beer later, that is called a two a day! Some runners run 12-20 times/day during their streaks! They are very dedicated and should expect pr's in their distant futures.
yep, 2 miles was my minimum.
The US Streak Running Association, yes, there is such a thing, defines 1 mile as the minimum. But a streak is an indvidual thing so it's really whatever you call it.
1 mile counts for me
If you break your ankle and hobble a mile a day to keep the "running" streak alive, the running streak is over. If you want to have a separate streak called something like, "I have moved at least a mile a day by my own force", then so be it, but these so called "running" streaks are a little silly. One of the guys with a very long streak, actually went a mile a day on crutches after surgery and called that the continuation of his streak. The whole idea of a running streak should be that you are tough enough and healthy enough to actually RUN everyday and if you can't do it, so what, neither can most of the rest of us. I have never made it past about 6 months because of an injury or severe illness that prevented me from doing so. I could have hobbled a mile or risked dying, but why would I do that? So I can make sure I get articles in the paper and call the news stations to do a story on me. Wow. Just wow!!
This is what got me curious. I used to take about a day off every week but recently tried to run every day. In the past I have had consistency issues, but when trying to maintain a streak I noticed this went away completely. I only got to about a month before I had to take off due to an injury that I sustained playing hockey. I only had to take a couple days off for it to clear up but I imagine it could have gotten a lot worse if I kept on for the purposes of maintaining the streak.
Similarly I have tried to run through illness and found that it makes things much worse sometimes, to the point where I have to stop running or I will become seriously ill.
Three miles.
