Doesn't really matter who makes it from the South. The regional qualifiers traditionally get their butt handed to them at nationals. Especially the girls. They need to expand that region a couple states to make the team more competitive.

Sure about that? In 2009 5 were all americans. Lutz, Hurysz, Errasa, Mizerick and Lord. In 2010 4 were AA. Jimmy Clark, Pickering, Bile and BWilliams. Plus 2 more in the top 20 (Scott Morgan, Thomas Graham) This was also without craig lutz not running.

I think the national champ will come from the girls South region this year.

I think south has a very goood shot on the girls side, many talented girls coming from FL, TX and VA.

In 32 years of Footlocker, the champions are as follows:

Girls - West: 11, NE: 10, MW: 7, S: 4

Boys - MW: 16, West: 9, NE: 5, S: 2

Totals: MW: 23, West: 20, NE: 15, S: 6

I am fairly positive that the South has never won a team title on either the boys or girls side and has finished 4th of 4 many, many times.

Each region should have around 16 individual and team championships. Only the South is not at that level. The South is by far the largest region by population and have great yearround weather. It is simply outclassed by everyone else.

Burcham and Thomson will showdown at the Trinity Inv. this year. Sub 15 race most likely. 2 junior studs

South isn't that great but is improving. Northeast and West have trouble doubling with New York and California. Otherwise, F-M could probably win the whole thing themselves. South is probably the weakest overall, but there are a few regional discrepancies that are contributing factors to that.

No one in the West can double, since FLW is the same day as NXN.

The only ones that can potentially double are the NXN-HL, NXN-SO, and NXN-MW states.

I'm sure Burcham will be at NXN-SE, not FLS, this year... his team should be right in the mix for the region title and attended NXN-SE last year as well.

Of course the South sucks at distance running. We're too busy stocking NFL rosters and filling up the 100m finals of the NCAA meet. You can't have it both ways.

Burcham is out of FL and NXN. But he'll probably go for sub-4 this year. But he would have been a top pick.

What is the south course like? Just from looking at results, if that's a full 5k the south looks to be head and shoulders above the rest of the country... but I've never heard of a single one of those runners except Bile and I like to think that I follow the sport pretty closely.

Course is FLAT. One hiccup at 1.5. Very fast.
