Hey, just wondering if Saucony Grid Type A4 would be a good racing flat for 3k,5k,10k on track? What distance do you think is the best distance for this shoe?

I've used for up to a 10k. Being 165lbs, the cushioning starts to feel very minimal for races longer than 5k....although I feel like my body may have gotten used to it since my feet no longer hurt after.
Other notes: they have drainage holes and things will get lodged in them, which doesnt feel good. So, debris free race routes are ideal
I have used mine for half ironman racing since May '10. I'm just at 180 lbs, but I'm a mid-forefoot striker. I agree with the debris-free courses, though. Not because things get jammed in the holes, as you get rocks jammed in flexgrooves and outsoles with every racer, but rather you feel every single rock under your foot. I switched to these after a 1/2 marathon PB (1:12) where I accidentally packed the Type A4's instead of my Fastwitch 4's. Haven't looked back since.

You weigh 180 pounds and run a 1:12 half?
I wore them in my first marathon and frequently wear them on tempo runs. Overall, I enjoy the shoe but agree with others that it is very minimalist and has little cushioning. Only for neutral runners.
Always been a bit on the thicker/muscular side from soccer growing up. So that's where the weight comes from. Ran 3:48 1500 and 1:50.1 800 in college, so you might say I have some decent footstrike/stride efficiency. Distance running isn't just for little guys.

I'm impressed, I thought I was big at 165, running 114. I love the A4s but when they were new they got very slick on wet roads. I don't notice it as much anymore.
Colin Sahlman runs 1:45 and Nico Young runs 1:47 in the 800m tonight at the Desert Heat Classic
