I made the switch to neutral shoes earlier this year and I have a shoe that's going on around 450-500 miles. Usually, this is around the time that I would replace my old support shoes (like DS trainers/2150) because of noticeable aches in my knees during runs. Since neutral shoes don't have a post, does this mean they last longer?
I'm not kidding- the same thing happened to me. Got 500 miles out of a neutral shoe and usually get 350 out of support shoes.
A shoe that matches your gait cycle better is more likely to last longer. You were probably both in the wrong category before.
Differential materials in the sole are a mistake in the long term. Stick to neutral support, use good biomechanics and your shoes can easily last 1000+ miles.
So, do neutral shoes tend to last longer than stability shoes is what I'm asking? My knees are starting to feel like I need to get my shoes replaced because they're pushing 500+ miles on them. But I don't know if it's the shoes or the fact that I've been pushing around 100mpw for the past month and it's just fatigue I'm feeling.
Does the cushioning of neutral shoes degrade before the upper material starts to tear apart??
