Hey guys I really need help and I'm worried because the season starts in 2 weeks. I ran a 5k this week to see were I was at with just easy base miles no speed what so ever I ran 17:20. I began doing the Jack Daniels phase 2 which included intervals at 5k pace, as well as 1500 meter pace intervals, and a 40 minute tempo run. I could easily do the intervals and the speed work at the prescribed pace. But when I attempted to do the 40 minute tempo run with the fixed times that Daniels gives to run for 40 minutes I could only do 4 miles or 24 minutes before not being able to go any further at a 6:14 pace.
