I have not seen any mention anywhere on how the weather is going to play a major role in the distance races in Daegu. Right now temps in mid 80's to 90's and typically warms about 4-5 degrees on average from early August to late Aug/early Sept. More of impact than temp is the extreme humidity that makes New Orleans in August seem like Oslo compared to Daegu humidity.
Rupp has run few races in such weather, hasn't trained for it. Sure he looked good racing in England last month where the weather is similar to Portland but he has spent no training time in hot weather as Lagat has and even Solinsky has.
For all the planning Salazar has done I am shocked he has discounted the effect of the humidity on Rupp and Farah. Now next year at the Olympics I would expect guys training in Portland to benefit. Opposite effect will take place there where sprinters who train in warm climes like Jamaica, Florida and California struggle with London's late July, early August typical low 50's and rain.
My bet is Rupp staggers home in 9th in the 10k and will DNF in the 5k.
