Stealing is bad.
If you ever do please don't finish in the chute, it can screw up results a lot of times.

Ms. Switzer did get in trouble at Boston:
But she was legally entered
Nope, no one.

That's what she said.
its fine to bandit if its a low key race with an expensive price. IE the rinky dink 10k for such and such that draws less than 500 people but costs $50. My rules: 1. 5k 20 or under, 10k 30 or under, 10 miles - half 40 or under, marathon 60 or under. 2. If its a major race, thousnads of competitors and routinely won in fast times, rule 1 doesn't apply and unless your money is going to your college tuition, you need to pay
It's never fine to bandit. Bandits are a**holes. When I see people bandit local races I chew them out every time.

Always amazes me that runners pay other people to run! hahahaha. You are paying some race organizer almost $10 a mile for some 5ks and 10ks. RUN FOR FREE.

Why does it matter to you if someone else bandits a race? Wear a watch and get your own time
If it's a chip timed race, why does it matter?
I don't bandit, but I don't run as many races as I would due to the cost. I try to draw the line at $20 for a 5k. It really adds up a few busy months. What happens if you have a family who likes to run? If I see a $15 race I make a point to go. I also try to go to club races with are $3. Some of the 5K's are getting to $30.
There should be a minimalist trend for races.
If you can't afford it, sorry, time trial on your own.
time trial on your own, at the same time and on the same course as the race
I tried to bring up cost of races and posters didn't seem to think it was an problem. I have an 14 year old girl that ran 17:30 5k a couple of weeks ago and 17:40 two weeks before. I would like to get her more experience with racing but 25 to 30 dollars per race, and then another 15 to 25 for gas. My limit is about 15 dollars, not many of those around. Not sure I would ever have her bandit any race though.
